GSG’s Julie Hootkin, Jim Papa Named Partners
GSG is delighted to announce that Julie Hootkin and Jim Papa have been named partners
Hootkin – a ten-year GSG veteran—leads the firm’s Corporate Reputation and Public Affairs research practice, where she oversees new business strategy and product development, and is on the front lines of helping corporations and advocacy organizations leverage research and data-driven communications to make an impact. She launched and co-leads GSG’s Corporate Impact practice, which helps corporations build and protect their brands, reframe their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, and manage business implications in the new political environment. Her work with Foundations and advocacy clients helps organizations such as The Rockefeller Foundation, Share Our Strength and the Ms. Foundation for Women translate their thought leadership into real, important policy change.
Hootkin also advises national, state and local political candidates, and since 2006, has served as a political consultant to CBS News throughout each primary and general election season. She frequently speaks and is quoted on public opinion, corporate reputation, and politics in outlets such as the New York Times, Politico, Newsweek, and others.
Papa joined GSG in 2012, and runs GSG’s Washington, D.C. office, guiding operations and strategy for the public affairs and communications practice that continues to grow in scope and presence year over year. He advises CEOs and other C-suite executives as they grapple with public affairs challenges and opportunities in the nation’s capital and nationally, across multiple industries, including health care, financial services, defense, technology, education, and the environment. He has helped corporate and non-profit clients navigate some of the biggest fights in Washington – from financial sector reform to immigration to health care to civil liberties – and advance advocacy priorities ranging from food policy to space policy. His ability to handle high profile executives and complex issues has helped build GSG’s reputation in D.C. and beyond.
A veteran of the Obama White House and Capitol Hill, Jim is a frequent commentator in the media and guest lecturer.
“Beyond their significant contribution to our firm’s growth, both Julie’s and Jim’s commitment to our people and our clients have been extraordinary,” said Jon Silvan, Founding Partner and CEO. “They represent the best of our firm’s values, culture and history, and understand that putting the company and our clients first is fundamental to our success.”
