The Washington Post: I watched Trump all last year. His response to Charlottesville was no surprise

Following the violence in Charlottesville this past weekend, President Trump’s response gained immediate public criticism, calling it vague and inadequate. But GSG’s Christina Reynolds, who spent “all of last year observing Trump more closely than most Americans” as Hilary Clinton’s former deputy communications director, said she wasn’t surprised by his response:

Trump’s reaction to Charlottesville created a disturbing case of deja vu. He was doing the same thing as president, in the face of an alleged murder, that he’d done as a candidate: Sending quiet, deliberate signals of solidarity to white supremacists, then lashing out when others criticized him for it.

See here for Christina’s full piece on how she could have predicted Trump’s controversial reaction.
