Like millions of other people, we are excited about the return of Game of Thrones this season.

Our online analysis – “Watching the Throne: Democrats, Republicans, and the Battle for Westeros” – identified emerging trends in the conversation among Democrats and Republican Members of Congress, as well as voters.

Here are a few takeaways:

Democrats were more likely than Republicans to post about the women contenders for the Iron Throne, with 48 percent of Democrats’ tweets about potential queens compared to 34 percent of Republicans.

Two-thirds of Republican tweets were about male contenders, including a surprising 15 percent about the Night King.

Representative Ted of House Lieu? Representative Ted Lieu really likes to tweet about the show – he’s posted about it 20 more times than any other Member of Congress.
