Gorkana: Behind the Headlines with Dana Yeganian

Gorkana Group profiled GSG’s Dana Yeganian in their “Behind the Headlines” series. See below for a preview of the piece. You can visit this page for the entire article.

My ideal day is…
An early morning walk in Central Park with our dog, a good workday with lots of client and colleague interaction, followed by a great dinner with my family. (And then another walk in Central Park with the dog.)

What made me want to get into PR was…
I fell into PR. I never took a PR class and didn’t have my first PR internship until my final semester of college in Gov. Jim Hunt’s press office. That experience made me realize how much opportunity there was to influence issues and make a difference without having to necessarily be a reporter.

Five words that describe me…

  1. Driven
  2. Friendly
  3. Approachable
  4. Fair
  5. Tough

I always thought I’d be…
A journalist. Murphy Brown was my favorite TV show when I was a kid – an unusual choice at the time, I’m sure. While I didn’t become Murphy Brown, I was lucky enough to learn about good writing and good journalism from some of the best at UNC-Chapel Hill and from a slew of mentors at internships and in early jobs.
