After a stint as a macroeconomist at the New York Fed and two global macro hedge funds, Shad decided to swap economic forecasting for a career in the applied political data world. At GSG, Shad is the Vice President of Data and Analytics, specializing in survey methodology, predictive modeling and microtargeting, and voter file analysis.
Prior to joining GSG, Shad was a principal at KT Analytics, a political survey and data analytics firm whose 2018 clients included the Gavin for Governor and Katie Porter for Congress campaigns. He also previously worked on the Analyst Institute’s Civic Engagement team, managing field experiments on voter turnout for AI clients including Rock the Vote and Mi Familia Vota.
His research on public opinion, campaigns, and elections has been published in the Journal of Politics, Electoral Studies, and the California Journal of Politics and Public Policy. He holds a Ph.D. (all but dissertation) in political science from UC Berkeley, and a joint M.S. in Economics and International Affairs from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. When he’s not analyzing political survey data Shad can usually be found outside walking with his dog Bo, dutifully supporting his canine sidekick’s campaign to get pets from every resident of Lower Manhattan.
